Notifications
The total number of new cases which came to the notice of the
Department during 1959 was 488 compared with 589 in 1958.

Four hundred and eighty-nine cases were added to the notification
register during the year and 208 cases who had removed, recovered or
died, were taken off. The number remaining on the register at the end
of the year was 6,061.
Deaths
The number of deaths certified as due to various forms of tuberculosis
was 38.
