Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
The proportion of cases notified per 1,000 of population was
3.4, compared with 5.1 in 1905, 2.8o in 1904, and 3.2 in 1903, and
in the County of London 4.3, compared with 4.1, 2.89, and 2.7.
The proportion of cases notified was thus .9 per 1,000 lower
than that for the whole of London, while in 1905 it was one per
1,000 higher.
In the separate sub-districts the annual rate of notified cases
per 1,000 persons living was as follows for the year, and for the
three previous years:—

The rate in Clapham, Putney, Streatham, and Wandsworth,
is lower than in 1905, but in Tooting it is higher.
In Clapham the disease was most prevalent in January, February
and May, while it was at its minimum in September.
There was nothing special in the incidence of this disease in
Clapham during the year, with the exception of eight cases in
August which were caused by an unrecognised case.
In Putney the number of cases was considerably under the
average, no cases having been notified in the months of February,
July, August, and September. The maximum number of cases,
viz:—eight, was notified in December, and 20 out of the 34
notified during the year occurred in October, November and
December. No death occurred among these 34 cases.
