The number of days worked was 15,383; the cost per day for
each horse being 4s. 2¾d.
Two horses have been sold for £18 3s. 6d., the present number
of horses being 51.
SCAVENGING.
The scavenging of the roads and the cleansing of the gullies was
carried out by the Council's employees and by hired horses and carts
and Council's horses and carts.

During the year the following van and cart loads were collected:—
