There were 22 cases of overcrowding discovered, compared
with eight in 1902, but only six notices were necessary, the other
cases being dealt with by the Inspector at the time of her visit.
86 workrooms were found to be in a dirty condition and seven
to be insufficiently ventilated. These nuisances were all remedied
shortly after the Inspector's visit.
In the 134 separate nuisances in workshops discovered by the
Inspector it was only necessary for 61 intimation and 10 statutory
notices to be served, and it was not necessary in any case to have
recourse to legal proceedings.
69 workshops where females were employed were reported to
H.M. Inspector on discovery, and 19 workshops were reported by
H.M. Inspector to this Council.
