Report of the Medical Officer of Health.
The Table following summarises some of the other Tables,
and, in addition, there is shown the death-rate per 1,000 of
population from all causes, from Phthisis, and the death-rate
of children under one year of age per 1,000 births.
A study of this Table shows that Wandsworth occupies a
most favourable position. Its death-rate for all causes stands
fourth lowest, as also its death-rate from Phthisis, while as regards
the number occupying less than five rooms, and the number of
tenements under five rooms overcrowded, it stands second.
Its position among the Metropolitan Boroughs as regards
the deaths of children under one year of age is not quite so
favourable, and there is no doubt that this rate is higher than
it ought to he.
