The death-rale for the whole district was 15.77 per
1,000 persons, which is considerably lower than that
recorded in any previous report. The following table
shows this fact more accurately:—

It will be seen from this table that the death-rate is
0.5 per 1,000 less than the decennial average. It is
also 5.1 per 1,000 less than the rate for the 23 great
towns of England and Wales, and 2.8 per 1,000 less
than that for the whole of the Metropolis.
