The birth-rate per thousand persons living was 33.7 as
compared with 34.5 in the previous year. The birthrate
for the whole of London during the same period
was 31.7 per 1,000. The natural increase of the
population, or excess of births over deaths was 4,902,
and the rate of natural increase 17.9 per 1,000.
Deaths. The total deaths registered during the
year numbered 4,302,—2,120 of males and
2,182 of females. The number of deaths and the deathrates
of the several sub-districts are compared in the
following table:—
