The Council makes an annual subscription of £150 to the
Association's funds.
NURSING HOMES.—There are 15 Nursing Homes in the
Borough registered with the Middlesex County Council under the
Nursing Homes Registration Act, 1927.
Seven of these, with a total of 49 beds, are registered for
the reception of maternity cases.
NORTH MIDDLESEX COUNTY HOSPITAL. — The
number of beds at North Middlesex County Hospital is 1,384, a
decrease of 42 since the last Annual Report.
There were 80 beds available for maternity cases at 81st
December, 1940, this figure being the same as the normal complement
of maternity beds before the war.
The number of maternity cases from Hornsey admitted in
1940 was 114, as compared with 127 in 1939.
HORNSEY CENTRAL HOSPITAL. — The Hospital
has 72 beds and is provided with up-to-date X-Ray and Ultraviolet
Ray Departments.
There were 745 in-patients treated during the year
(including 114 air-raid casualties), of which 567 belonged to
the Borough. In addition, 3,113 out-patients were treated.
The Council subscribes an annual sum of £200 to the Hospital
funds.
HORNSEY DEANERY ASSOCIATION.—An annual sum
of £50 is subscribed by the Council to this Home for Unmarried
Mothers in Eastern Road.
OPEN-AIR SWIMMING POOL.
The Council's open-air swimming pool commenced its season
on 4th May and closed on 26th September.
During this period 59,711 tickets were issued and 133 season
tickets were in use.
The satisfactory condition of the water is maintained by a
system of filtration, aeration and chlorination.
