The number last year was 1,029. The total of the accounts
paid to 31st December amounted to £440 12s. 4d.
The cost per pint is 3d. from May to September and 3½d.
from October to March, from which price a discount of 5 per
cent. is deducted from milk purveyors' accounts.
TODDLERS' PLAYROOM.
The Toddlers' Playroom, started in November, 1931, and
conducted at no expense to the Council by Miss Benn at the
Highgate Centre, continues to be a success. The Playroom is
open each morning from Monday to Friday and the maximum
attendance is 23. There are 26 between the ages of 2 and 5
on the rolls and the total attendances made during the year
was 3,707.
INFANT LIFE PROTECTION.
CHILDREN ACT, 1908, AND
CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS ACT, 1932.
The work under these Acts is carried out by the Health
Visitors in their respective areas.
Foster-mothers are encouraged to bring the children to the
centres for periodical medical examination.

A register of foster-mothers and foster-children is kept by the Medical Officer of Health and at each Centre. The following is a summary of the Register:—
