SHOPS ACTS.
Seven hundred and ninety visits have been paid to shops
during the year, and, apart from a number of minor infringements,
which were dealt with, the provisions of the Shops Acts,
1912-1928, have, generally speaking, been well observed.
Letters have been sent in two instances where contraventions
have occurred after verbal notices, and undertakings obtained
that recurrences will not take place. No legal action has been
necessary.
There are 1,252 shops in the Borough engaged in the following
trades:—
