LEGISLATION IN FORCE.
Byelaws relating to loud-speakers and gramophones were
made by the Council during the year.
AMBULANCE FACILITIES.
The ambulance arrangements with the London County
Council for the transport of infectious cases, and the Council's
ambulance for street accidents and general ambulance services
continue to be satisfactory and adequate.
The "Morris Viceroy" motor conveyance, purchased
in October, 1931, for the transport of mentally and physically
defective children travelled 11,476 miles and carried over 22,639
passengers.
The following is a statement of the work done by the
Borough Ambulance under the Fire Brigade: —

CHILDREN ACT, 1908, AND
CHILDREN AND YOUNG PERSONS ACT, 1932.
The work under these Acts is carried out by the Health
Visitors in their respective areas.
Foster-mothers are encouraged to bring the children to the
centres for periodical medical examination.

A register of foster-mothers and foster-children is kept by the Medical Officer of Health and at each Centre. The following is a summary of the Begister:—
