There are 3,070 subscribing members of the Association, and
during the year 11,048 visits were paid in 466 cases.
Home Nursing Classes were conducted by Miss Ivett, the
Superintendent, at Hornsey High School, under the Higher
Education Committee.
The Council subscribe annually a sum of 25 guineas and the
Education Committee £5 to the funds of the Association for the
nursing of cases.
Hornsey Deanery Association.—The Council subscribe a
sum of £50 a year to the Association's home for unmarried
mothers in Eastern Road.
Nursing Homes.— There are 24 Nursing Homes in the
Borough registered with the Middlesex County Council under
the Nursing Homes Registration Act.
Fifteen of these are registered for the reception of maternity
cases, with approximately 80 beds.
Hornsey Central Hospital.—The Hospital, which has 49
beds, treated 698 cases, of which 583 were Hornsey cases. 1,314
out-patients were also treated.
MIDWIVES.
The Local Supervising Authority under the Midwives Act
is the Middlesex County Council.
There are 23 Midwives and one Municipal Midwife notified
to the Middlesex County Council as practising in the Borough,
11 of whom reside outside the Borough. The Municipal Midwife
attended 139 births, in addition to 89 ante-natal clinics held at
the Welfare Centres—Brook Road, Wightman Road, Church
Road, Highgate, and Coldfall Clinic. One of the conditions
upon which the Council's Midwife accepts a case is that the
expectant mother shall attend an ante-natal clinic.

LABORATORY FACILITIES.

The arrangements for the examination or analysis of materials are as previously described and meet all requirements.

The specimens examined in the laboratory at the Isolation Hospital during 1933 were as follows: —
