INSTITUTIONAL PROVISION FOR UNMARRIED
MOTHERS, ILLEGITIMATE INFANTS AND
HOMELESS CHILDREN.
These are cared for by the Middlesex County Council and
by the Hornsey Deanery Association for Preventive and Rescue
Work at Beacon Lodge, Eastern Road, Fortis Green.
INSTITUTIONAL PROVISION FOR THE CARE OF
MENTAL DEFECTIVES.
The authority responsible for this is the Middlesex County
Council.
AMBULANCE FACILITIES.
(a) For Infectious Cases.—All infectious cases removed to
Hospital are carried by the ambulance service of the London
County Council.
(b) For Non-infactious and Accident Cases.—Non-infectious
and accident cases are conveyed by the Borough Ambulance.
The following is a statement of the work done during the year:—

There were 24 oases of accident or illness in streets within
the Borough attended by other ambulances, owing to the Borough
Ambulance being otherwise engaged.
Another ambulance—which travelled 11,243 miles during the
year and carried 20,549 passengers—under the supervision of the
Health Committee, is employed in the Medical Services of the
Borough, chiefly for the transport of physically and mentally
defective children.
