Statutory Notices on resolution of the Council 147
In 11 cases legal proceedings were instituted against persons
who had failed to comply with statutory notices to remedy
defects. In each case an Order of the Court was made for the
work to be done, and fines and costs amounting in all to £53 2s.

In seventeen instances the drains, etc., were re-constructed
entirely, and in others the defects found were remedied and the
nuisances abated.

The number of premises periodically inspected during, the
year was 915. This number includes all premises where food is
stored or prepared for sale.
House-to-House Inspections.—The following tabular statement shows in what roads house-to-house inspections have been made during the year, with a summary of the defects found. In each case the nuisances have been remedied:—
