Population.—The estimate of the population of the Borough
at the middle of 1905 is based upon the number of occupied houses
as ascertained from the rate books, and upon the average number
of persons per house as shown by the last census returns. Calculated
in this way, the estimated population of Hornsey at the
middle of 1905 was 85,213 persons.
The estimated population in 1904 was 84,227 persons, so that
in the twelve months it is estimated that the population of the
Borough has increased by 986 persons.
During this period the number of births in the Borough has
been 1,567, and the number of deaths 696, or an excess of births
over deaths of 871.
