The yearly average number of cases of infectious disease for
the years 1895-1904, making the necessary correction for the great
increase of population, is 615.
The number of cases notified is 118 greater than in the previous
year, but is 138 below the corrected average for the 10 years
1895-1904.
Quarterly returns of cases of Infectious Disease : β
132 cases of infectious disease were reported during the first
quarter of the year. (Corresponding quarter 1904, 62 cases).
108 cases of infectious disease were reported during the second
quarter of the year. (Corresponding quarter 1904, 60 cases).
84 cases of infectious disease were reported during the third
quarter of the year. (Corresponding quarter 1904, 97 cases).
153 cases of infectious disease were reported during the fourth
quarter of the year. (Corresponding quarter 1904, 140 cases).
The increase in the number of notified cases is really an increased
prevalence of both Scarlatina and Diphtheria in the first
and second quarters of the year. In the third and fourth quarters
both diseases approached, or fell below, the level of the previous
years.
