The Agricultural Produce (Grading and Marking) (Egg) Regulations,
1928, were revoked and have been superseded by the Agricultural
Produce (Grading and Marking) (Egg) Regulations, 1930. The latter
introduced certain slight changes relating to Grades (naming and standards
of size).
The Artificial Cream Act, 1929.
At present there is only one place in the City registered for the
manufacture of " artificial " cream, but there are two other places where
it is made which are exempt from registration because of the provisions
of Section 2 (1).
Milk and Dairies Amendment Act, 1922.
Under the Milk (Special Designation) Order, 1923, made under this
Act the Council issued licences for the sale of:—
Certified milk 10.
Grade A (Tuberculin tested) milk 12
Grade A milk 4
Pasteurized milk 14
6 samples were taken for bacteriological analysis.
These samples for bacteriological examination are taken by the
Council's inspectors by arrangement with the Ministry of Health, and
the reports are sent to the Council as well as to the Ministry. All the
samples were found to comply with the bacteriological standards of the
order.
Pasteurization of milk is not undertaken at any premises in the City.
Removal of the name of a Milk Vendor from Register of Purveyors of
Milk. (Milk and Dairies (Amendment) Act, 1922.)
An itinerant milk vendor registered in the City had been guilty of
many offences; four samples of milk taken within a period of eighteen
months were found to be adulterated, one having 26 per cent. of its
fat abstracted. In addition, he was observed bottling milk in the street
on two occasions. He had been prosecuted, and convictions had been
obtained for each of these offences.
The vendor was summoned to attend before the Public Health Committee
and made a statement, which, however, was not considered
satisfactory, and his name was accordingly removed from the Register of
Purveyors of Milk.
The vendor if he felt aggrieved at the decision had the right to appeal,
but he did not do so.
