DIPHTHERIA.
There has been a slight decrease in the number of cases of Diphtheria
notified during the year under consideration.
The total notifications numbered 457 and the deaths 37 for the year.
The percentage of deaths to the cases notified was 8.1.
The annual mortality per 1,000 inhabitants was 0.20.

Of the 457 cases notified 440, or 96.3 per cent, were removed to
hospital with 33 deaths, a mortality of 7.5 per cent., whilst in the 17
cases treated at home there were 4 deaths, a mortality of 23.5 per cent.
ENTERIC FEYER.
Three deaths from Enteric Fever occurred in the borough during the
year, as against 3, 1 and 5. in the three preceding years.
The total number of cases notified was 8 for the present year, and
12, 8 and 10, for the three preceding years.
