296 inspections of ice cream premises were made during
the year. Conditions at these premises were satisfactory.
60 samples were submitted to the Methylene Blue test and
the results were as follows:—
Grade 1 22

„ 3 15
„ 4 6
(g) Food Premises.
(1) Margarine, Margarine-Cheese, Butter and Milk Blended
Butter.
The following table shows the number of factories and
wholesale premises on the register at the end of the year.

(2) Premises used for the preparation or manufacture of
sausages or potted, pressed, pickled, or preserved food.
At the end of the year the number of such premises on the
register was 42. No applications for registration were made
during the year.
(h) Slaughterhouses.
There are three licensed slaughterhouses in the Borough
none of which were in use during the year.
(i) Food Poisoning.
During the year 10 cases of food poisoning, 7 of which were
confirmed, were notified.
In no instance was a specific cause established, the consumption
of various foods alleged to be responsible.
