[Report of the Medical Officer of Health for Poplar, Metropolitan Borough]

(c) Unsound Food.
Examination of unsound food, details of which are given
in the table below, were carried out by the Food Inspector on
210 occasions during the year and appropriate action taken.
Legal proceedings were taken in two instances in which
tomatoes intended for but unfit for human consumption were
exposed for sale. A penalty of 10s. 0d. and costs 10s. 0d. were
awarded in each case.

(d) Food and Drugs Act.
During the year the total number of samples procured
under the Food and Drugs Act and submitted for analysis by
the Public Analyst was 757 (136 formal and 621 informal).
Of this number 31 (11 formal and 20 informal) were found to
be adulterated.
