on 14th November. It was necessary to obtain the temporary services of
a Nurse from a Nursing Association.
(ii) Probationers.—Changes have occurred in the personnel during
the year and on account of illness during July temporary assistance had
to be obtained. Two of the Probationers passed the elementary examination
of the National Society of Day Nurseries.
(iii) Domestic Staff.—Changes have taken place in the Domestic
Staff during the year.
Vaccination.
The Public Vaccinator and his Assistant and the Public Vaccinators
were transferred to the Borough Council Staff as from 1st April, 1930.
A list of these officers is shown at the commencement of the Report.
(2) Nursing in the Home.
Agreements with local nursing associations are in operation, the
fees payable being at the rate of is. 3d. per visit. (For number of cases
visited and total visits paid, see Table in the Maternity and Child Welfare
Section of this Report).
(3) Midwives.
The number of midwives practising in the area is 20.
No arrangements are made for subsidising midwives in the Borough,
but compensation is paid in certain circumstances (see Maternity and
Child Welfare Section, page 143).
(4) National Health Insurance.
From time to time complaints of insanitary conditions are received
from various Approved Societies and the conditions are investigated.
The Tuberculosis Officers co-operate with panel practitioners respecting
insured tuberculous patients in receipt of domiciliary treatment.
