24 Sessions have been held at which
97 Patients have been treated;
145 Diseased teeth have been extracted;
15 Scalings;
9 Fillings.
In addition, dentures have been fitted, dressings and gum treatment
have been carried out.
Approximately 24 new patients have come to the Clinic. The average
attendance per session works out at 4 patients, a trifle more than the
previous year.
The patients are difficult to treat, their mental outlook as well as
their physical condition rendering them difficult to convince of the
necessity for a clean and healthy mouth. Added to this is the fact that
only two sessions are held each month and only comparatively little
work can be done for each patient at each session, which makes the
treatment very protracted and tedious for them.
C. HAMMOND WILLIAMS, L.D.S., R.C.S., Eng.
During the latter part of the year negotiations were entered into
with the London County Council with a view to possible arrangements
being made for this work to be carried on at St. Andrew's Hospital on an
agreed financial basis.
If the Borough Council's proposals are accepted by the London
County Council it will be possible to have tuberculous patients requiring
dental treatment seen twice a week, instead of once a fortnight as at
present.
