ACUTE POLIO-ENCEPHALITIS.
No case of Acute Polio-Encephalitis was notified.
POST-VACCINAL ENCEPHALITIS, Etc.
One case of Post-Vaccinal infection was reported.
The patient, a girl aged 4 years, fell ill 13 days after vaccination.
She was admitted to hospital the following day and died 8 days later.
A detailed report of the case was sent to the Ministry of Health.
MEASLES.
1,993 cases of measles were reported to the Medical Officer of Health
from various sources (principally from L.C.C. schools). 30 deaths were
attributed to measles.
During the year 143 cases of measles were admitted to L.C.C.
Hospitals from the Borough.
A summary of the cases reported and visited under the London County
Council Scheme of Control is given in the Section relating to Maternity
and Child Welfare, page 133.
PNEUMONIA.
468 cases of Acute Primary Pneumonia and 5 cases of Acute Influenzal
Pneumonia were notified during the year, 155 of the patients being treated
in hospitals. 72 notified patients died—72 Acute Primary Pneumonia.
MALARIA.
No case of Malaria was notified during the year.
DYSENTERY.
No notifications were received. One death from Chronic Dysentery
was recorded—an inmate of a Mental Hospital outside the Borough.
