NURSING HOMES
Responsibility for the registration and inspection of six nursing homes is vested in the
London Borough of Lewisham under Part VI of the Public Health Act 1936, the
Nursing Homes Act, 1963, Part III of the Mental Health Act, 1959 and the appropriate
regulations.
Two are non-profit making homes, and one is registered for the reception and
accommodation of mentally disordered persons. All these homes have been inspected
during the year by a medical officer and a public health inspector.
No new homes were registered during the year. The registration of one home was
amended, the authorised number of patients being decreased by one.
