The number of deaths of Lewisham residents registered in 1934
was 2,225, and the corrected death rate was 10.1 per 1,000 persons.

Deaths in Public Institutions.
The deaths occurring in Hospitals and other Public Institutions
in the Borough numbered 1,205, of which 748 were residents, and
359 residents died in Institutions outside the Borough.
Infant Mortalitv.
The number of infants who died before reaching one year of age was 118, equivalent to an infant mortality rate of 43 per 1,000 births. The following table shows the infant mortality for the last ten years, and a comparison with the County of London:—
