In the quarters the mortality ranged from 75 per 1,000 births in the first
quarter, 53 in the second, 29 in the third, and 54 in the fourth.

In London the infantile mortality was 59 per 1,000 births, while in the six
boroughs encircling Islington it was 62.
The rate for England and Wales was 69 per 1,000 births.
