Training
During 1970, ten State Registered Nurses successfully undertook
the District Nursing Certificate and 2 State Enrolled
Nurses attended an "in-service" training course.
Refresher Courses
Arrangements were made for 38 District Nursing Sisters to
attend refresher courses as under:—
6—2 weeks Practical Work Instructors course.
3—1 week course on General Practitioner attachment.
5—1 day at Kings College Hospital. Renal Dialysis.
1—2 day Seminar—"The Middle-aged Man".
2—1 day Multiple Sclerosis.
1—1 day Diabetes Mellitus.
2—1 day Care of the Feet.
2—1 day Marie Curie Conference.
16—\ day Geriatric Speech Therapy.
Nursing Officers
1—1 month Middle Management.
1—2 weeks Middle Management.
2—2 day Student Assessment.
Observation Visits
These were made by the following 96 students:—
4 Integrated Hospital students — 8 days with D.N.
41 Hospital students — 1 day with D.N.
28 Pupil Midwives — 1 day with D.N.
1 Social Studies student — 1 day with D.N.
22 Attendants, Old People's Homes — 1 day with D.N.
Home Help Service

At the end of 1970, the equivalent of 313.14 full-time Home Helps were employed and the table below gives an account of the duties undertaken.
