The work of the outdoor staff is reflected in the
volume of clerical work associated with sanitary
administration.
During the year 5,793 Preliminary Notices were
served requiring the remedying of Nuisances. 3,231
Statutory Notices were served.
The legal proceedings which were necessary to
enforce the Notices served are reported on in the
appendix to this report.
At the beginning of the year there were 965
premises with nuisances outstanding. During the year,
nuisances at 6,803 premises were abated and 519
premises with nuisances outstanding were carried
forward to 1932.
TENEMENT HOUSES.
The number of houses on the register as being let
in lodgings or occupied by members of more than one
family was 170; 808 visits of inspection were made
to these houses, and arising out of such visiits 276
notices were served.
