DEATHS.
The number of deaths registered in the Borough during 1964 was
2,160. Of these 1,354 were deaths of non-residents and were transferred
to the districts in which the person ordinarily resided. There were
on the other hand, 346 deaths of Battersea residents registered outside
the Borough. The total (corrected) number of deaths belonging to the
Borough was 1,152 (553 males and 599 females). This gives a recorded
death rate of 11.43. The rate for England and Wales was 11.3.
Of the 1,152 Battersea deaths 767 (or 66.6 per cent.) occurred in
hospitals, etc.
