MARRIAGES.
The marriages registered in Battersea during 1963 numbered 949
The marriage rate (i.e., the number of persons married per 1,000 of the population) was 18.4.

DEATHS.
The number of deaths registered in the Borough during 1963 was
2,452. Of these, 1,531 were deaths of non-residents and were transferred
the districts in which the persons ordinarily resided. There were,
on the other hand, 367 deaths of Battersea residents registered outside
the Borough. The total (corrected) number of deaths belonging to the
Borough was 1,288 (610 males and 678 females). This gives a recorded
death rate of 12.76. The rate for England and Wales was 12.2.
Of the 1,288 Battersea deaths 900 (or 69.9 per cent.) occurred in
hospitals etc.
