SANITARY CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE AREA
With an overall improvement in the staffing position in the public health inspectors section
during 1963 it proved possible not only to give more attention to important routine matters, but also
to make a substantial resumption in house-to-house inspections, area surveys and individual
inspections of houses in multiple occupation.
The comment was made in my last report that the number of complaints received had increased
for the first time for several years. This trend was even more marked in 1963, the number requiring
investigation increasing sharply from 1,403 to 2,294.
