MEAT AND OTHER FOODS.
Registration of Food Premises.
Section 14 of the Pood and Drugs Act, 1938, requires that all
premises used for the sale, manufacture or storage of ice cream,
or the preparation or manufacture of sausages or potted, pressed,
pickled or preserved food intended for sale shall be registered
by the local authority. The premises so registered in Camberwell
at the end of the year were as follows : —

Supervision of Food Premises.
All premises in the Borough where food is manufactured
stored or sold are periodically visited by the district sanitary
inspectors to ensure that a satisfactory standard of hygiene is
observed. The record of such inspections carried out during the
year under review is summarised in the following table: —

Food Inspection.
It is one of the duties of the Pood Inspector to examine any
food suspected to be unsound, and if in his opinion it is unfit
for human consumption, the food is surrendered and a condemnation
certificate issued. Two thousand, four hundred
and forty-two such certificates were issued during the year.
