TUBERCULOSIS.
There was a marked decline in the incidence and mortality
of this disease in 1950. Primary notifications of pulmonary
tuberculosis numbered 289, and non-pulmonary 36, as compared
with 430 and 48 respectively in 1949. There were 57 deaths
from respiratory tuberculosis as against 79 during the previous
year and the total deaths from all forms of this disease was 64
in 1950 and 94 in 1949. Eight deaths from tuberculosis occurred
in persons who had not previously been notified.

The following table shows the sex and age distribution of all new cases and deaths from tuberculosis during 1950 :—
