The district sanitary inspectors kept these premises under
observation but no infringements of the Bye laws were discovered.
Rag and Bone Dealers.
There are only 8 premises in the Borough occupied by Rag
and Bone Dealers and it did not become necessary to take any
formal action in respect of the conduct of these businesses.
Shops Act, 1950.
This Act came into operation on the 1st October, 1950, and
repealed the Shops Act, 1934, but those provisions of the 1934 Act
which were enforceable by this Authority have been re-enacted
in the later Act. No applications were received for exemption
certificates to be granted in accordance with the provisions of
Section 38 (6) of the Act.
Pharmacy and Poisons Act, 1933.
Under this Act, any person who sells poisons listed in Part II
of the Act is required to be registered by the local sanitary
authority. During 1950, 12 applications were received for
entry in the Council's register of Sellers of Part II Poisons and
172 for the renewal of registrations. No contravention of the
Act was reported by the Council's officers.
Factories Acts, 1937 and 1948.
The following tables showing the work carried out under the
provisions of the above Acts have been prepared in accordance
with the form prescribed for submission to the Ministry of
Labour and National Service : —
