Infantile DiarrhŒa.
37 deaths of infants under one year of age from diarrhoea and enteritis were
registered during 15)18. The number of such deaths in each quarter of the
year was as follows:—
First Quarter 10
Second ,, 2
Third ,, 15
Fourth „ 10
The number of deaths of children under 5 years of age from diarrhoea and
enteritis was 47.
OPHTHALMIA NEONATORUM.
40 cases were notified during 1918, 31 by doctors, 8 by midwives, and 1 by
both doctor and midwife. In 2 other cases the diagnosis was afterwards
altered, the corrected number of cases being therefore 38.
5 of the cases were regarded by the visitor as grave, 15 as moderate, and
18 as slight.
6 of the cases have since died. 11 were illegitimate.

The cases are classified below according to the manner in which the mothers were attended at their confinement.
