MARRIAGES.
According to the return kindly furnished to me by the Superintendent
Registrar of Hampstead, it appears that 745 marriages were
registered in the Borough during 1918, as compared with 708 in the
preceding year.

The following Table gives the marriage rates for the years 1908-1918:—

BIRTHS.
During the year 799 births-410 males and 389 females—were
registered in Hampstead, as compared with 998 registered in the
previous year, being a decrease of 199. Of the 799 births, 22
males and 14 females—were of children who could not be deemed to
belong to Hampstead. In addition, 132 births of children—60 males
and 72 females — whose mothers were Hampstead residents, occurred
outside the Borough in Lying-in Institutions, etc.
The nett number of births belonging to Hampstead was therefore
895—448 males and 447 females—as compared with 1,123 in 1917,
and being a decrease of no less than 228.
