The Infantile Mortality Rate, for the Borough,
measured by the number of deaths under one year to
1,000 births registered, was 108, an increase of 6 compared
with last year; the figure for London as a whole
was 103, and the Borough average during the last five
years, 1905-1909, inclusive, 113.
The Zymotic Death Rate of 1.38 per 1,000 is .24 per
1,000 above the County average, viz., 1.31 per 1,000,
and is 0.39 per 1,000 above the corresponding figure
for last year.
This increase in the Zymotic Death Rate is practically
all accounted for by the larger number of deaths from
Whooping Cough in Greenwich during this year. The
average Death Rate from this Disease throughout the
County of London being -28 per 1,000, whereas the
death rate from this disease in Greenwich was .50 per
1,000.
