Council thought fit to withdraw the whole of the clauses
rather than give way on the question of their supervision
and control. This attitude on the part of such a
body as the London County Council is certainly to be
deplored. Sanitary Authorities and the Public Health will
accordingly have to wait for some future Bill before the
anomalous position is put right.

Food Preparation. Places where food is prepared have been visited on 156 occasions, improvements being required in 42 instances, as detailed below: —

The 42 instances where matters needed attention included
24 cases where the premises generally, or kitchcn
and scullery particularly, needed cleansing and limewashing,
5 requiring a proper ash receptacle, and 3
requiring the w.c. apparatus attending to, leaving 10
other minor defects.
Customs and Inland Revenue Acts. Thirty-two
applications were received during the year for certificates
under these Acts. No certificates were granted.
