Epidemic Cerebro-Spinai. Meningitis. There was
only 1 case of this disease notified during the year, which
was in East Greenwich. The patient was between the age
of one and five years, and died in the Seamen's Hospital,
Greenwich, to which place he had been taken for treatment.
Isolation Shelter. This shelter was not used during
the year.
Contacts. Intimation was received from the Medical
Officers of Health to the various Port Sanitary Authorities
on 16 occasions during the year in this connection. On
8 occasions with respect to persons coming to an address
in this district from a vessel where cases of cholera had
developed, and on 8 occasions from vessels which had
had a Small-pox case on board. Each of these persons
was kept under observation.
Glanders. Under the Glanders Order, notification
has been made to this authority during the year with
respect to 5 differ outbreaks of Glanders. Enquiries
have been made in each case, and no human Glanders
has appeared to result therefrom.
Glanders, Anthrax and Hydrophobia. No notification
of any case of these diseases in man has been
received during the year.
Consumption. During the year there were 177 cases
of Consumption voluntarily notified, 76 being in East
Greenwich, 29 in West Greenwich, GO in St. Nicholas,
and 12 in Charlton. Of this number 44 cases were
under treatment in an Institution. The ages of the
patients were, 4 under one year of age, 6 between one
and five years, 30 between five and fifteen years, 28
between fifteen and twenty-five years, 100 between
twenty-five and sixty-five years, and 9 over sixty-five
years.
