Report on the vital and sanitary statistics of the Borough of Lambeth during the year 1909

found decreases. Taking the statistics of the Parish ot
Lambeth during 10 years (1891-1900), and those for the
Borough of Lambeth during 8 year's (1901-8)*, it will be
noticed that the percentage of houses showing defective
drains (i.e., giving a result with the test) has decreased from
22.3 in 1891 to 7.1 in 1909. Table L gives particulars,
with the averages for the 10 years worked out, for the old
Parish of Lambeth, and comparing these with those of 1909
for the Borough of Lambeth, it will be seen that the latter
show a decrease of 63.6 per cent. below the average for the
old Parish (1891-1900) in respect of defective drains.
