The following table shows the distribution of Scarlet Fever in the respective sub-districts of the Borough:—

Sub-Districts.North.Central.South-West.South-East.
No. of Cases of Scarlet Fever.1099793109
Attack Rate per 1,000 living.1.91.61.41.7

It will be seen from the table that Scarlet Fever was nearly
evenly distributed over the Borough during the past year, the
incidence of the disease being, however, the highest in the North
sub-district (1.9 per 1,000) and the lowest in the south-west subdistrict
(1.4 per 1,000.)
The deaths from this disease numbered five during the year.
This is equal to a mortality rate of 12 per 1,000 attacked and
.02 per 1,000 living. The mortality for London for scarlet fever
for 1910 was .04 per 1,000 living.
Diphtheria and Membranous Croup.—There were 189 cases of
diphtheria and membranous croup notified during 1910, but of this
number 32 were afterwards found not to be so suffering. This
reduces the total genuine cases of this disease occurring in the
Borough to 157. This is a decrease of 72 on the number notified
during 1909, and is equivalent to an attack rate of .66 per 1,000
living. The chart shows the incidence of the disease to have been
extremely low during the whole year, in only one week of the year
did the total number of cases notified reach the figure 10.
The number of cases removed to hospital during the year was
152. This is equal to 80 per cent. of the total.
