Town Hall,
Fulham, S.W.
To the Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors of the Metropolitan
Borough of Fulham.
Sir and Gentlemen,
I have the honour to present to you my Annual Report
on the vital statistics and the conditions affecting the health
of the borough for the year 1910.
The statistics of births, deaths and infectious diseases relate
to the fifty-two weeks ended December 31st, 1910.
POPULATION.
The population of the Borough in the middle of 1910, as
estimated by the Registrar-General on the assumption that
the rate of increase which prevailed between 1896 and 1901
has been maintained since, was 181,282.
Estimated on the number of rated houses, and assuming
the same number to a house as at the Census, the population
was 158,307, and on this figure the statistics in this report are
based, though as at the present time there are, especially in
Sands End Ward, many empty tenements, which, owing to
the compounding system, are not shown in the rate-books, it
is not improbable that even this may be too high an estimate,
though not sufficiently so to seriously affect the accuracy of
the mortality rates.
