SCARLET FEVER.
The notified cases of scarlet fever were 511, compared with
594, 668, and 674 in the three preceding years.
The returns for the four quarters were:—

The cases occurred in 406 houses, as under:—

Isolation—464, or 90.8 per cent. of the patients notified,
were removed to the hospital for treatment.
Fatality.—The deaths from the disease, ten in number,
represent a case mortality of just under 2 per cent., which is
the lowest yet recorded in Fulham.
Return Cases.—Fourteen cases occurred within fourteen
days of the return from hospital of a child living in the same
house, after recovery from a similar attack.
Distribution of Cases.
In Table XVI. will be found the number of cases notified
in and removed from each ward in the borough, and the following
table shows the proportional prevalence of scarlet fever
in the several wards during 1909 and the preceding years.
In Table "B" in the appendix are given the streets in
which the cases occurred.
