births in Fulham Infirmary, since 1901, when the returns
of the births registered in the borough were first obtained.

PREVENTION OF INFANT MORTALITY.
Notification of Births Act.
Three thousand two hundred and sixty-five notifications
were received under the above Act, 3,196 of living and 69 of
stillborn children, 75 per cent. of the births registered being
notified. Of these, 1,896, or 58 per cent. were notified by
wives, 1,058, or 32.4 per cent. by medical practitioners, and
311, or 9.6 per cent. by the father or some other relative.
Three hundred and twenty-five mothers were visited by the
Sanitary Inspector, Mrs. Davies, and 679 by voluntary helpers
who worked in connection with the Fulham School for Mothers,
but as has been repeatedly urged there is need for the
