Causes of Infantile Mortality.
Table X. gives the causes of infantile mortality at various periods under one year, and the following gives the proportion of deaths occurring at certain age periods: —

From diarrhœal diseases there were 99 deaths, or 23.0 per
1,000 births, as against 25.5, 21.8, and 47.8 per 1,000 in the
three preceding years.
Wasting diseases show a decrease of 6, and respiratory
diseases a decrease of 2 per 1,000 births, while infectious
diseases were slightly more prevalent than in 1908.
