Under the Common Lodging Houses Acts, 1853-5, the London
County Council has control of all the Common Lodging Houses
situate within the Metropolis. All Common Lodging Houses
must be licensed by the London County Council annually, in
accordance with the provisions of the London County Council
(General Powers) Act, 1902, Part IX., Sec. 46. The Common
Lodging Houses in the Borough are visited from time to time
in connection with drainage defects, infectious diseases, etc.
Name of Buildings. | Situation. | Owner. | No. of tenements. |

These dwellings are frequently inspected and any insanitary
conditions found are remedied. It is satisfactory to be able to
record the fact that few cases of infectious disease have been
notified during 1908 from these dwellings, the total number of
cases notified for the year being 18, as compared with 9 in
1907 and 16 in 1906.
