These vans are frequently inspected by night as well as day.
Eighteen vans were found to be overcrowded during the year,
and summonses were taken out against he owners, 11 for overcrowding
and 2 for other nuisances. The cases were heard at
the South-Western Police Court on March 25th, April 8th and
22nd, and orders for abatement were made, and fines and costs
amounting to £8 5s. imposed.
Only 2 cases of infectious diseases were notified from van
dwellings during the year.
