The "Infantile Mortality," i.e., the number of deaths under one
year per 1000 births was 69, this figure being calculated on the
total number of births belonging to Hampstead, including those that
occurred in lying-in institutions outside Hampstead. This is equal
to the infantile mortality in 1907 calculated in the same way. The
average rate for the years 1898-1907 was 99.
