The total number of persons married in Hampstead during
1908 was 1,244, which is equivalent to a rate of 13.4 per 1,000 of
the population, and is a decrease on that for the year 1907, when
the marriages of 1,292 persons were registered, equivalent to a
rate of 14.2 per 1,000 of the population.

BIRTHS.
During the year, 1,355 births were registered in Hampstead,
an increase of 14 as compared with the number, 1341, registered
in the previous year. Of the total births, 701 were of male, and
654 of female children.
The births registered in Hampstead do not comprise the total
births belonging to Hampstead that occurred during the year.
Forty-five births of children whose mothers were Hampstead residents
occurred in 1908 in the principal lying-in institutions in
other metropolitan boroughs, and the total number of births belonging
to Hampstead was 1,400; and in accordance with the
