PUERPERAL FEVER.
There were only 16 cases of this disease known, namely, 1 in the first quarter,
3 in the second, 1 in the third, and 11 in the fourth quarter. These cases were in
the proportion of 1.73 to every 1,000 registered births, which was smaller than any
rate chronicled in the nine years 1891-9.
